“Amy was a pleasure to work with, taking time to understand the aims of our event and preparing thoughtfully in advance.

On the day, their attention to detail and engagement with speakers and delegates shone through in a powerful performance that left a lasting impact on the audience.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Amy to bring creativity and energy to any event.“

Institute for Health Equity
Health Equity Network Conference 2026

The Health Equity Network‘s 2026 Conference was a day of panels and workshops for members of the network to come together and discuss the steps that have been taken, and the plan moving forward, to tackle Health Inequality in the UK.

'Just Start Somewhere'

There are threats to health we’re facing
this we all know to be true
Recovery of UK health
is the goal in this room

Everybody here has
that same goal, that same idea
We need to make health more equitable
and that’s why we’re all here

People in this network
have so much to give,
so many practical ways in which
we can change how people live

It needs to be the right support
at the right place, right time
Each percentage of a statistic
is a real person, real life

And no single person alive
has only one concern to bring
There is not one single person
who can be summed up as just one thing

Holistic ways of working
listening first and then responding
Creating action with a person
and avoiding disregarding

Give individuals a sense of power
over their own lives,
a sense of confidence, of purpose,
a sense of hope so they can thrive

Trusting a person knows themself
better than any system
and a community knows what help it needs
trusting in grassroots wisdom

We can praise a community’s strength
because, yes, fortitude is brilliant
but we can not allow disparity
to be excused due to resilience

Acknowledge systemic influences
work to tackle discrimination
Look at the workplace, travel, utilities, housing
they’re all part of the same health equation

Health is wealth and wealth is health
Wealth means opportunities, headspace
People make better health choices
when they have security as their base

We need to tackle populism narratives,
take issue with division overpowering unity
Everything, everybody is linked
and healthy people make healthy communities

Creative health, divestment to local,
ways to create early intervention –
they are all key elements
to ensure ill health prevention

Utilising trauma informed practice,
upskilling trusted community members
Work on connecting services with partnerships
to ensure consistency at the centre

People are the economy
We need a cohesive workplace health system
Health of the working people holds
huge economic implications

We need long-term investment commitments
We need place-based aspirations
Not avoiding people labelled ‘hard to reach’,
but having them mold our considerations –

So that we can deliver
good employment and good standards of living,
parent support, Creatively healthy schools
and seek to remedy whose voice is missing

Poor health is both an economic
and a moral issue
this is all professional
but it is all personal too

So yes, it is true that we are all
facing great, big problems –
but we’ve, together, got greater ideas
that can help us, now, to solve them

We are moving on from evidence
and turning it into action
We’re building from where we are, right now
and letting the movement build traction

Because that is what this is –
Health Equity’s a social movement
We’re chipping away, bit by bit
to ensure lasting vast improvements

We’re not promising instant changes
We acknowledge we’re four miles into a marathon
But we do promise to
just
start
somewhere
and that equity is what we’re set upon

Newcastle City Council
International Women’s Day 2026

International Women’s Day at Newcastle City Council was a celebration event for local women who are making change, across sectors, for a better Newcastle.

There were panels, information booths, performances and more.

'Build For A'

A city of strong women
An event to celebrate
The power that they harness
To affect our everyday

To make lives that much better
To teach and to create
To fill our ears with song
That will get us through our days

It all starts with a welcome
With a room of open arms
Open ears, open minds
And so many open hearts

For the girl who needs a place to turn
Who’s needing a safe space
For the woman who’s looking for ways to thrive
And really in need of change

Whether that be in tackling poverty
Tackling racism, breadline living
In long-term funding charities that
Fill gaps of services missing

Or better sexual health
Being taught to girls in schools
Accessibility for disabled women
To make sure they’re in the room

It might be through the making sure
Politicians have to answer
To the questions that women have
About them protecting all women’s futures

Recruiting men who will do the work
Who want to be an ally
To wear their own white ribbon
And to push their friends to try

It might be through education
Or through a community group
It could be art, dance, poetry or music
No limits to what women can do

Making spaces for women in STEM
Allowing them the chances to try
So they can enter male dominated spaces
And make changes from the inside

There are so many of us working
To make sure that those things happen
To work everyday for a kinder world
They’re in this very room we’re sat in

And we’re proud to be led by women
And to let women lead the way
To discuss the ways in which
We can improve tomorrow’s today

For our very own communities
For the women that we know
And allow them opportunities
To skill up and to grow

Into spaces that understand
Filled with allies and with friends
To make sure they don’t face glass ceilings
Or come up against dead ends

Community champions, cultural leaders
Artists and thinkers and more
A woman can be anything
If shown that open door

We can see it in this space
All the accolades and awards
All the work and activism
To make sure we are moving towards

Spaces like this wHere we can can listen
Commemorate and honour
The ways in which our city
is being rebuilt for’A

And that kind of city is built upon
Work that is community led
Through partnerships and relationships
To ensure nothing goes unsaid

And that we can build Her confidence
Make sure She feels that She belongs
So before She’s ready to step up
We need to work right the wrongs

To make sure that equality
Is an automatic corner stone
In every single project and space
To make sure Her light gets known

A city whose very systems
Reflect the life we know
Systems as diverse as our own
multifaceted northern home

To make spaces that centre joy
and move towards joint liberation
We’re starting a journey together, today
To build a new, better, foundation

For whoever She may be
For whatever She wishes to do
We know we can be that city
That can help Her dream come true

And make spaces that are ready
For the day that She decides
That She will be the next woman
Who will move and change the tides
