About Amy

Hi! I’m Amy Langdown, a creative from Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

I have a passion for working with the community to produce and develop creative projects.

Not everyone gets the opportunity to be creative, and I’ve made it my job to change that.

Wondering what I’m up to? Check out my instagram!

Narrative Shift

Narrative shift is a project comissioned by Helix Arts, produced and facilitated by Amy Langdown for people who are both LGBTQIA+ and disabled.

The goal of the project was to work towards changing narratives around queerness and disability via spoken word.

This exhibition includes the amazing writing created with the support of Amy Langdown during the project by participants.

OUT OF YOUR HEAD!

Out of Your Head is a one-of-a-kind spoken word event for those of us who think too much and share too little, running out of The Cumberland Arms, Newcastle. It happens on the last Thursday of every month – come along!

Writing & Poetry

I am primarily a performance poet, writing a lot about the current political climate in the UK and the wider world, but also on topics such as introspection, family and landscapes. I also write for page and stage.

Illustration & Design

As an Illustrator and a Designer, I work to create art that speaks to the world we live in today.  It’s important to me that everyone has accessible, culture-first, design.

Narrative Shift – Reflections

Now that I’ve come to the end of Narrative Shift, I’m reflecting on the whole project and the things I have learned. I kept artist reflection diaries throughout the process and have been looking back on them, as well as getting...

Where did January go?

I’m not sure about anyone else, but I feel as though January has just disappeared. I celebrated the New Year, and now it’s nearly at the end of February!

How I Got to ‘Where We Are’

A few months ago, I was commissioned by Apples and Snakes (the national board for spoken word poetry) to create a one-minute poetry video about ‘the North’, as a part of their ‘Future voices’ project, to celebrate 40 years of Apples and Snakes. I have never made a...
